Anyone ever had problems with Rad-Seal?

As above guys as I have a leak which I need a quick fix for.

It worked on a car I know which had a very small leak and it then went on to do 60k but it depends on the hole.

Very small as it takes a while before I need to refill it, just if I can plug it now it stops me re-filling it every 2 months

Hi Mark,

Do you know where the leak is? If you don't, have a look at the hose that comes from the top right rear of the engine and runs down to the rad. Mine had gone soft with age and had started rubbing on a pulley underneath. I started by topping up the coolant now and again then it slowly got worse as it wore through. Might be worth a look. ( I fixed mine for 6mths with hose repair tape). The hoses on our Ed100 are particularly vunerable as the heat from the turbo and the added pressure kills them. Hope it helps.

Rad-Seal is great, apart from clogging the heater matrix. Rad-Seal=cold winters.

Yeah, but is this the rad seal or people using too much of the stuff.

Years ago, you used to be able to get a radiator sealer called "CeLit". I used it many times and always managed a successful repair. I even repaired a radiator that had fairly large holes (up to 4mm diameter) with Araldite and CeLit. It was still ok 3 years later.

CeLit came in small white plastic packets and looked like metallic flakes that you put into a hot radiator. It cost only about 10% of a can of Radweld. It's so long since I fixed cars that I've no idea whether you can still get it.

I'd avoid it if possible, as the others say it's save a £10 and cost £200 in the long run.

Do you know anyone with an aluminium welder who could put a spot on it for you, not sure how long it will last though.
