help with xbox 360

Hi all, Im having the dreaded three rings of death... I have followed several repair guides and have replaced the two spring clamps with the replacement bolts... When i fit it all back together the xbox works finw for a day or so then again the three rings of death... can anyone help?

Did you use a good amount of heat compound on it??
If its less than 3yrs old it should be covered by warranty...
I've had 2 360's with rrod, but i've always sent them back to Microsoft for repair..

You could try these if you get stuck:- CD24

This site has some good info on it..

Theres often new ones on ebay that come as just the console only for around £60 to £80, you keep your existing psu and cables..

Did you use a proper cleaning agent to remove all the old compound crud off the cpu and gpu dies? also did you let it overheat before reassembling it all too?

Wish I could afford a new one...lol... I have followed the instructions given perfectly... didnt use too much compound, was advised to use very little... unfortunately cant send it back now its been opened...so fustrating...works fine then red rings of death...

yes mate... purchased the proper arctic cleaner and arctic silver... let it overheat for two mins with the two red lights then tighten it all up... let it cool down fire it up and its fine for a day or so... then same old story... i hate microsoft...

got one coming back same thing... did the repair then 4 days later.. rrod again, gonna try once more then i'm scrapping it...

It was said on radio1 today that zavvi are selling these for less than £100! If thats the case i think i might just treat myself to 1

My friend sent his back opened, he did have it chipped and they repaired it no problems and sent it back sealed up again! Might be worth a try.

i am getting one for chrimbo to replace my ps2. Are they prone to problems? My ps2 has never given me any trouble in god knows how many years i have had it.
