    Default dtuk

went a run to stanley yesterday and had andrew at dtuk fit this

came back up through the scottish borders and all i can say is wow throttle response is so much better and it goes like stink all i need to do now is get it on a rolling road

andrew at dtuk has set it for me not at the top level but he said he would be surprised if i was not getting at least 180+bhp

Should have got a "caterman" box as its a lot cheaper and offers very similar results. Although glad your happy with it

I'd rather pay the extra & get a decent box like this than a caterman e-bay jobbie, if fact I did, ok the rolling road results gave similar reults 190-195bhp for boxed cdti 150's but having tried both the Spider box I have fitted is much smoother than a caterman & the DTUK red box I had was brutal on full setting & 0-60 a smidge over 8seconds, in the end though I prefered the Spider.

Its all down to personal preference I guess. Personally I also think the 1.9 has enough problems without adding a box to it. They all work in the same way, raising fuel pressure, weather they be a £60 e bay one or a £200 more advanced one. Its just how they deliver it that varies.

65000 miles with a box fitted over 2 years & so far exactly the same faults as 2 of my workmates with the same (but standard) car. EGR valve fault & alernator packed up. I've always said it would be a high mileage long term test

EGR valves will always suffer with a box (or remap) because you're bound to get excess smoke even on part throttle compared to standard, but they can be turned 'off' or reduced.DPFs will be affected, particularly if they haven't had the software upgrades.DMFs will suffer too, clutches will slip and things like turbo's (strangely enough more-so with a remap when the boost is upped) will have a harder time.

Would only recommend either if you have a warranty of some kind.

Note: Today when I finally took car in for the DMF doing there was an Astra 150 (boxed) in at the same time having its exploded clutch/gearbox replaced! I believe the Astra uses an F32 gearbox (another good reason not to tune these cars),but the cause of the problems were mostly with the clutch.
