im thinking about getting the windows tinted but what are the legal restrictions relating to how dark they can be?
and does anyone know somewhere in the north east that will do a decent job?

If you have an SRi Wayne you front door windows are already at the legal limit. You can have all the rear windows as dark as you want to.
I'm getting my rear windows done by Pentagon, they have a site which will show their branches.
I was quoted £170.00 for my rear windows

i fancy getting this done but not sure how its will look on a silver car with just the rears, quarter panels and rear window??
not sure how they work it but on my paperwork for my window tints it says that the front and rear doors are Steel 50(which is one over the legal limit) and the rear screen is Steel 35 which is darker than 50. i have had no trouble from the police about it to be honest. i think as long as you dont go mad then you should be ok. Loads of BMW X5s have got some dark tints on them. Mine cost £235 all in. hope that helps
if i could get away with what you have higgins i would be over the moon but the police are clamping down quite abit round my area, making most people take the tint off the front..
Mine fronts are 50% tinted and all the backs are 30% tinted. This means they let in 50% and 30% of the normal light through. The legal limit is 70% on the fronts I believe -
I was speaking to a guy i play rugby with last week (he's a Traffic Cop), i'm getting mine tinted soon...he said "It is now ILLEGAL to add ANY tint to front windows whatsoever sri or not"
HTH (sorry)
He said the department for transport etc. have a number of vans driving around that stop random vehicles and check the tints on there front windows..."£60 fine, and get em removed please sir"
I'm getting 30% tints to rear's for £130!
Tint meters aren't standard equipment for traffic cars in my force. However, the Vehicle Standards Agency can now stop vehicles and are beginning to do the odd stop check. They are primarily looking at LGV/HGV, so as long as you don't go mad, you should be ok.
Aye, VSA, thats it.
The tinting company i'm going too said he wouldn't do tints anymore to front windows, because it can come back to them now...
Any decent tinting firm should now say no if you ask them to tint the fronts...!
