    Default Purpose of CIM

As you may have seen from this previous thread of mine http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=64352 regarding CIM adjustment due to mis-aligned steering cowels, been thinking , hopefully shouldn't need Tech2 as I've only made a slight adjustment?
and secondly , what is the actual purpose of the CIM , I gather it's the steering angle sensor that looks at the postion of the steering wheel/CIM , but what happens then exactly? does it get sent to steering pump? or have I got this all wrong?
    Cheers Pete

Tramlining has f**k all to do with the CIM.

The CIM is the box of electronics that runs the dashboard computers, all the electronics inside the car, including the steering wheel position sensor (which ties back to ESP and AFL if you have them, and works the electronic indicators). The CIM also controls the immobiliser. On Astras it's a common fault with the CIM when the immobiliser loses sync with the key's chip leaving you stranded in a car that won't start.

Steve1975l; Sounds to me like you need a trip out to WIM, www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk and have your geometry setup including camber, well worth a visit and at the same time Tony there can check for any other underlying suspension issues.

The CIM needs to be perfectly aligned mate, if you've moved it, it'll be making wrong calculations with the ABS, ESP/TC systems.
