    confused Heating

I have a 2.2 DTI Signum. Now its getting cold I have noticed it takes a really long time to get any warm air inside the car.

I start the car up and generally leave it for a few min's to warm up and melt the ice on the windows, But I don't actually get the nice warm air blowing in the car until I am on the main duel carriage way which is about 4 miles.

Does anyone else have the same thing? My wife has a Zafira and it gets warm within about 5 mins. We all have to dress up in our hats and gloves then strip off on the main road....

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

    Default

2.2 DTi = heavy engine = lots of metal = long time to warm up.

As steve said is the Zafira a petrol as that will warm up more quickly.

My 2.0T, being an all alloy engine, warms up really quickly so if the Zaf is an alloy engine then that'd explain the difference.

Yes the Zafira is a 06 1.8 petrol Design. I would use the Zafira but I don't like driving it. On the motorway if I get to 80 the missus is telling me to slow down, in the Signum I can do over that speed and she never notices. Also the roll on the Zafira is terrible.

    Wink

That is one of the joys of diesel ownership unfortunately. I have had 5, all slow to warm up, around 4-8 miles. My mate has a year old Citroen C4 Picasso with a 2.0 litre oil burner. It takes at least 15 miles to warm up the cabin. It has had a new thermostat fitted and is no different. My 1.8 VVT takes a few hundred yards though.
