    Default ESP light stayed on

I was up in the Yorkshire Dales over the weekend. The car park of the hotel had iced over during the night. I managed to get out of it and onto the main road. I noticed the ESP light stayed illuminated for a few seconds beofre going out. Any idea why this would happen?

I think I read somewhere, may have dreamt it, that there is an inbuilt sensor that turns the ESP off when trying to move off on snow/ice?

    Thanks

If it was icey as you have said then the ESP would have been active whilst the car sorted itself out for grip then then the light would be illuminated. When the road conditions turned to normal, then the light would go out is my guess.

Thanks for the response. I've seen it flicker a few times, wet roundabout and junctions etc, but it just stayed solid for a while this time.

i can confirm it doesnt disable itself in the snow.

In the really bad snow last week i had terrible trouble getting the power down in the VXR. 235/35/19 are not good for snow !

I was dabbing the throttle gently to edge up the hill in the snow, and the ESP light was lit up like a christmas tree.

It lights like that to tell you its working/active. Your wheels were probably slipping on ice or something else slippery
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
