Default Expensive Astra at Perrys methinks

Went to perrys vauxhall in Preston today to see if they had an Insignia I could have a look at and while i was there i spotted a new astra outside (it was one of those convertible hard tops) with a price tag of...................................wait for it.................................£23450!!
It was a cdti version but couldn't believe it, to say vauxhall need to sell cars and lots of them, the price seems a bit unreasonable to me when you compare what other cars you can get for that price.
    What do you think?

Must have been a heck of a spec. My Sporthatch was £21k when it was new, and it was a Design with just about every option on it.

Well I just specced up the most expensive model I could on the Vauxhall website, and it came to just over 25K, so I'd say it mut be fairly near the top...

Thats not uncommon, if it is a new car, they have to advertise the recomended retail price including all options.

The astra was a 'design' model.

    Vehicle : Insignia Grand Sport

    Engine : 1.5T (165)

The plain truth is that you pay a premium of £3000 for the hard-top compared to the equivalent 5-door hatch, (on manufacturers recommended prices), and you don't see the same kind of discounts new and they hold their value well, as they are not high-volume sellers. And the 1.8 petrol uses the pre-VVT engine (120bhp). It's a high price to pay for a gimmick......unless you really want to drive with the roof down. Each to his/her own.

You can spec a TT up to more than that if you go silly with the build. And if it's new then yes, the price on the screen is the retail plus options plus delivery plus tax.

Had a passing glance at it today - doesn't even have AFL to bump up the price by 800 squid...
