how about taking the live from the cigarette lighter socket
EDIT:- Sorry just realised you are fitting a turbo timer. So you need to find 12v ign under bonnet. Must have been the go faster stripes on your avatar disracting me

Being full CAN you have to take it from the cigarette lighter socket. Duncan mentioned this to me when he fitted my boost gauge and I'm sure that's what he said.
What timer are you fitting?
cheers guys . its the rs turbo timer
Have you tried testing out the fusebox area for these powers?? Obvious place to look with the meter. I don't know what current draw these take, but does it matter what fuse it is assigned to, as long as it's rated high enough?
Wiring up to the fuse box will also mean that you won't have to feed wires through the bulkhead. It also means that you won't be able to leave the car in gear (as the handbrake guidance recommends) and may also invalidate your insurance.
hey guys um still having trouble fitting my rs turbo timer 2 my 2.0t.
red wire: cont 12v
yelow wire: ignigtion
green wire: acc
im a bit stuck on were 2 pick the wires up from any help ?
I honestly don't know how you can do it - with all the electrics being controlled by the CANBUS network, there really aren't any ignition live wires anywhere except the cig lighter sockets.
yea i know its a right pain in the ass ! iv taken the hole dash apart 3 times and still no luck!
