    Default Oil change

As the weather was not too bad here. I got underneath my motor and changed the oil and filter. I was under the impression the oil filter housing was a 23 m/m socket. It was not. But fortunatly a 15/16 a/f socket fitted instead. As someone said about the ammount of oil that still runs out of the filter housing, even when the sump is empty, was more than I would have thought too. I also changed the pollen filter and the air filter. Whilst I had the air filter out, I did the "air box mod" too. I used Mobile 1 for the oil change, Don,t know if it is any better than the VX oil. But I got it cheaper than I would have paid for the VX 5/30 fully sythetic.
Now I am taking it easy for an hour or two.

Had the oil changed on my car the other week.

The last time i changed oil on a car, it used 20/50 oil.

I couldn't believe how much like water used 5w/30 oil is. It came out the sump like p155.

Actually wouldn't like to attempt it myself on my new block paved drive.

Top job Ed, for Doing it yourself though.

John. My drive is quite new too. I was very carefull not to spill any oil on the block paving. I put plenty of old news paper on the ground first. I did acctually manage not to spill a drop on the block paving.

    Top man.

My mechanic must have hands like shovels.

Up on ramps, he had a gert big oil container and still managed to get some on his workshop floor!!

BTW, I never realised how good brake and clutch cleaner was so good for absorbing and cleaning oil spills.

My next door neighbour used to use cat grit ( the stuff you put in a cat litter tray) when he spilled any oil. Seemed to work ok.............................. Cat kept getting oil on it,s paws though.

I have a feeling VX oil is Mobil 1, that or a good Castrol rating.

Mobile 1 is a 0/40 rating as VX fully synthetic is 5/30. I am not saying that Mobile don,t make it. Be intersting to know who doe,s make VX oil.

I would tend to agree with you. If they used cheap $hit, they would have more warrenty claims than they already get.
I have nothing against VX oil. I think it is very good. But I got the Mobil 1 for less than I paid for the VX 5/30 fully synthetic that I put in Larisa,s Vectra.
