You'll either have to plug the original HU back in or buy a CanBus adaptor to connect the steering wheels controls back up.

Not sure an adaptor will work.

I have just done my 07, and will need to connect the original twice a year to change the clock (Daylight Saving!!)

I have a full CanBus adaptor & I can update the clock with it. Going from memory I hold down the left lower steering wheel button to access the settings menu & make the changes using the right up/down & roller buttons (menu change & settings)

Unless there is a suitable interface the RDS clock on an aftermarket radio doesn't update the dashboard clock, so it will still need to be set

Or you could ignore the wrong dash clock and use the correct one on the stereo....
