    where is it and how hard is it to remove?

    iirc, it should be in the black box by the battery, as for removing it I would be careful as you could end up with a full airbag deploy, do you suspect a problem Rich? and if so normally the only way anything will show up is if it's read by the Tech machine, I wouldn't go pulling it about if I was you, very expensive and also fragile.

    The ECU sits forward of the front right wheel. Take off the front bumper and it is very easy to remove.

    should of said at the top realy sorry for making you all guess lol
    i am having a remap done and the guy who is doing it said the the ecu has to come out and be hoocked up to his gear.....is that right???

    £225 if he does it all
    or £150 if i remove and refit the ecu myself.....

    He's having a laugh, under no circumstances do you need to remove the ECU. All remapping is done through the plug underneath the front ashtray. DO NOT REMOVE THE ECU!

    As Meriikittio said, this ECU is remapable through the ODB port, its the EDC16C9 ECU if i'm right, think there was only problems with the EDCU19C39 not being writeable?
