Default nice pond in my footwell

got up this morning in a good mood, expecting to enjoy a saturday off work.
wen out side to start up the veccy and wht do i see....yes a big puddle in my passenger front footwell.
couldnt work out where it had come in from!!!
so i took the glove box out and saw water dripping down from a few places. so i then popped the bonnet and lifted the skuttle pannel to find underneath as over flowing with water!!!!! and then dripping in behind the dashboard.
So far the only conclusion i have come to is that the heavy rain from last night has gone down throuh the skuttle pannel, but instead of draining away through the inner wing (well i think thats where its supposed to go) it has decided to leak through into the car, so im thinking maybe a blocked exit hole/drain away...maybe blocked with leaves, dust and other cr*p!!

    Bl00dy nightmare!!!

On the VW's this is caused by the drain holes blocking up by the pollen filter in the scuttle panel, clean them out and dry it out inside.

Yep, common problem on the Vec as well - you need to make sure the drain holes are kept unclogged of leaves etc. Doesn't help you now though Matt, but one to keep an eye on.

Hope you get it dried/cleaned up without too much hassle.

Well once i had calmed down i did think i was quite lucky it hadnt hit any of the wires and heater blower that live behind the glove box as this could have been alot worse, so other then having to dry out my carpet its not to bad really, but will def be something to check each time the car is washed now!!!

Call me paranoid, I had the same problem as you when I got my car (it didn't show up in what VX call their 140-point check which they never did), and I check the area in front of the pollen filter and the drain whenever I check my fluid levels which is a helluva lot, but it only takes a minute. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah it appears the drain area in front of the pollen filter is blocked. so it will ave to be added to my weekly check list now.

The drain you speak of empties into a short tapered but restricted rubber hose which tends to trap sludge mud leaves and congealed detritus which prevents it from emptying out under the car which then forces the water etc. to pool back and in the worse case scenario do so through the pollen filter and into the passenger compartment.

Make sure you check the rubber hose itself is fully clear of any unwanted $hite.

So in other words check your $hite level as well as coolant and oil.
