Default GSi oil change - What size hex is the filter can and how careful do you need to be?

    As title.
Gonna do an oil service on the GSi 2mo, but came a cropper last weekend when I didn't have anything that fits the metal oil filter holder. Do I need any special tools as I've heared that you can't use sockets for fear of breaking the holder, so I don't know how much to tighten it back on again afterwards.

Just use a socket mate , can't remember which size it is , if your careful you should be ok , just tighten till it nips then chek for leaks.

Same here. Used socket on mine. Better access & leverage from under the car.

EDIT - it's an 'o-ring' seal so doesn't need to be overtight.

Can anyone confirm if the socket required for the filter housing is 23mm or 24mm?
