Default Very poor workmanship from a dealer.

I won't name the dealership but my car was in last week and had the clutch and flywheel replaced under warranty.
To cut a long story short tonight my car wouldn't start when i turned the key- not even a kick out of the starter but everything was lighting up on the dash etc. I phoned the AA who came out checked the battery and wiring etc. The AA man then tried to chap the starter then reached down and pulled out a long bolt and said "the starter motors hanging out!".
My cars going straight back to the dealers on a breakdown wagon tomorrow morning when they'll be open and i can't wait to hear the explanation for this! If it can't be sorted tomorrow they'll be giving me a courtesy car at the very least.

How did you get it home if the starter motor was hanging out? or do you think they just forgot to do the bolts up - or even to put them in!

Jeez! Bet you're glad that didn't drop off at speed - would have caused some damage!

Wasn't good ol' Arnold Cack was it?

I had to get a lift home. My car was in on the 2nd of December to have the clutch and flywheel replaced i've done about 420 miles since the work was carried out. I can't explain why it took so long for this dodgy workmanship to raise this problem - but the garage can answer this tomorrow morning. The guy from the AA said "it's obviously not been put back together properly".

Nope wasn't arnold it was a local vauxhall dealer in my area.

I had clutch and flywheel done on signum under warranty three months ago and dealer left some bolts loose on drive shaft bearing cover - bolts disappeared - took 2 weeks to get new bolts - they gave me hire car.

1 month later took Omega for cam belt change - cam belt tensioner bolt snapped and VX had to put new 3.2 engine in my 7 year old + Elite. Took 3 weeks - hire car also.

The starter wouldn't have fallen off, the cable would have supported it
