Default Winter Driving - Take Care!

I dont mean to come across with the "teaching your Grandma to suck eggs" attitude now, just a warning to the less experienced drivers among us..

In the last few days, i know 5 experienced HGV drivers that have had pretty serious accidents due to adverse weather conditions, the latest destroying a DAF XF in France yesterday afternoon. All of them are experienced European hands who have encoutnered probably every variant of weather going, It can catch even the best of us out. It better to take an xtra 5 minutes than risk damaging yor pride and joy, or worse still, yourself and family..

Take Care, Drive Safe, and Stay Lucky!

Yes. It is better to arrive late than not at all. We don,t seem to get much snow here in Brum" but when we do the roads get snarled up due to the fact that many motorists don,t have the experiance of driving on snow.

Yep - agree - this latest weather has re-enforced to me what a stupid idea it was by Vx to not put TC in as standard.....

The roads round us are awful this year - the gritter doesn't come up our lanes at all, so we have to negotiate a few miles of ice rink before we get anywhere near the gritted parts. Roger the Rover and I had a narrow escape yesterday morning, I went to turn left round a bed and nothing happened, other than gracefully sliding across the other side of the road, fishtailing round and coming to a rest facing the wrong way!!! I was doing the grand speed of about 5 miles an hour, so it was very sedate and fortunately nothing was coming the other way, so no harm was done. Scary stuff though!

It scares the hell out of me that people drive in the ice at the same speeds they drive at in the dry..............
