reverse lights?

drove the car back from my mothers today,got home (20 mins drive)
got out of the car locked it via the fob and the reverse lights were on...so opened the car via the fob, lifted the boot up ready to inspect the bulbs/wireing and then they went off...any one else ever had this happen or what causes it,..cheers guys

Were the dipped headlights on too? If you had accidentally knocked the main beam on, on exiting the car, then it could have been 'door to door illumination' which goes off after 30 seconds. Just a thought.

Sounds like this is what you have done mate. It's to light the path / driveway so you can see you're way to the door. As stated, once the ignition is off, and you open the drivers door, if you 'flash' the main beam stalk by pulling it towards you, the dipped beams & reverse lights illuminate for around 30 seconds.
A good little feature in my opinion.
