    Default CDTi 150 Misfire - clear things up for me!!

    OK, done the search but cannot find a definitive answer.

    Got the 2k revs misfire which is probably THE most annoying thing in the world.

    Struggles to take off from junctions etc, cruising along and press the throttle and nothing happens.

    No warning light or fault code though. Is it more likely to be the injector (#3) or the EGR valve coke-up?

    No DPF on the car and has done 46k odd miles and is a pre-facelift SRi.

    Garage think its most likely the injector but surely this would throw up a code?

    Started the car a few times now and it runs smooth and idles perfect but press the throttle and nothing at all.

    Sorry for ANOTHER thread on this but just need closure and a definitive answer.

    Went to Vaux today to ask them. The brick wall was probably more helpful!

    I would do the EGR myself if I had time but time is a luxury I do not have much of these days.

    Recently had the same symptoms. First garage changed the mass air flow meter and then a vacuum hose. Neither helped.

    Then got the EGR valve changed and everything is back to normal.

    Sounds like that's your problem too.

    Injector no.3 issue I think. Had the same problem the other week. Have the engine running with its misfire and push injector no.3 plug and see if the misfire stops. It might not as the cable could have broke down totally. As you stand in front of the engine the injectors are no1 left through to no4 on the right.

    Idles perfectly. Had the 'car and spanner' pop up a couple of times today, had the code read (not by vaux) and there was no code stored!

    The fact that by pressing the throttle does nothing seems to point to the EGR, as an injector fault would make the car run normally, but with some misfire and hesitancy. I cleaned the plugs of my injectors and tie wrapped number three on (as they are quite loose) and its been spot on since - only takes 5 mins too, as like you, I have no time to do things like this any more

    £40 plus VAT at Vaux for them to tell me the EGR was faulty. Got one through work for £96 all in including the 2 gaskets and now its fitted, problem solved.

    I'm amazed at how many problems there seem to be with the EGR valve. Why don't Vauxhall make cleaning it a part of the service routine. It surely can't take that much time to do it and it would certainly be a hugely beneficial for all us 1.9 drivers.
