Can anyone give me any pointers as to how this is measured and what criteria are considered? Here is a results for a house I am interested in buying, is it any good? Without understanding how it is derived at, i really can't make any real assesment of how good it is or how accurate it is either.

I know what it is generally, but would like the background info on what exactly is used to come up with the numbers

Given that the average appears to be D, it looks pretty good. Is that the Grade II place? - if it is then they've obviously done a fair bit of extra insulation to it.

Yes, it is the same place. The external walls are about 2 feet thick and made of stone ! I don't know what insulation there is at roof height or between floors or internal walls. But on rough comparison to other houses (have done some looking) it looks fairly OK. BUT I wondered if the criteria used may be slightly skewed due to the construction and materials already in existence. ie not like for like comparisons to a standard 2 'brick' with cavity filled with insulation.

I had already seen that page, but it didn't really give details on exactly what is measured or considered for the grading of energy efficiency. But thanks.

Not sure, but there are a number of links off that link that seem to go into things in more detail - although not sure if it still answers that question.

I'd have thought the criteria would be the same? i.e. is the house energy efficient or not with no extra 'leeway' given to older houses. I don't know for sure as I've never had one/seen one of these certificates.

Just did the final 2day component of my DEA course so also well up for answering Q's, looks a good rating for a property with solid walls!

What recommendations did it come up with?

Thanks, but luck doesn't come into it, course picked and funded by work and got 6000+ potential surveys to do!

Having seen an ad in a local shop for £50 EPC's, I wouldn't want to be trying to make a living from them!

well with 13k DEA in the UK and only a need for 4k work out the math, and companies who say start up and earn X we will help with training and guarantee work is BS...and there are still people training in it. we were in from the start and there is no long term work in it.

Yep on our course there were about 8 LA/RSL staff couple of landlords and a couple of guys spending their redundancy money. Best of luck to them.

Commercial Assessors will still be making a living but I wouldn't fancy it.
