Unhappy I think I have just killed my car :(

Coming home from work tonight, I had just pulled away from a junction when I got a huge metallic bang from the engine area Everything died in the car (lights, clocks, the lot) so I dipped the clutch and freewheeled to the side of the road. Tried to start it and nothing, just killed the dash lights. So called recovery and an hour later it was on its way to be dropped at the dealers with a suspected seized engine.

Thing is the car has had an intermittent missfire for about 3/4 months with really back Diesel "knock". Its been back to the stealers about 4 times and they have replaced, reprogrammed several things. But I have never been happy t he car is right and just today I called the dealer to say I wanted to bring the car in again.

Will let you know what happens when they get to look at it

06 should be under warranty - although the y2 and y3 extension at the time was dependant on it being serviced with genuine Vxl bits (don't think there was a clause about them being installed at a main dealer though) and being under 60k miles, IIRC.

    Good luck with it

It has just started Y3 of the warrenty and has only ever been serviced at VX Dealer. It has only covered 24K, and I am pretty sure its spat the conrod out of the block

Thats what the breakdown man thought too. But after putting the car into gear and rocking it the engine did not move a bit.. that and a puddle of oil underneath tells me its likely to be an expensive fix (for VX I hope)
