Default Central locking - it won't lock!!!

Had to put a new engine battery on today. Reconnected the new one, reset one shot on windows etc., but now when I go to lock the car with either the plip or the key, the door pins go down then straight back up.

Also got the spanner light and "drivers door" open on dash display and interior lights won't go off . Have tried pushing the door lock mechanism down the two clicks but still nothing. Disconnected the battery for another re-set, still no luck. Car starts and runs OK.

Now I've disconnected the battery many a time to reset the ECU but never had this problem.

Surely changing the battery and having locking problems can't be coincidental?

When you lock the car and the pins pop back up this is recognizing that there is a door or boot not shut properly , maybe one of pins bent , I know you probably don't think it's so simple , but I got called out to a car a while ago , woman was goin crazy saying " want this shed towed back to dealers etc " would'nt lock would'nt start etc .
I walked around side of car and shut the sliding side door properly , stupid caw had been there 3 hrs lol.

Slam all doors and boot a few times.

Thanks for the advice, will try all the above in a couple of minutes.

But why after just a battery change and the spanner lights come on?

EDIT - but didn't open any of the doors whilst the battery was off, not even the drivers door - damn and double damn!!

    Cold out there tonight

Slammed all doors, bonnet and boot. Sprayed all locks and strikers with WD40 but still no luck.

Thanks Poves fot taking the time.

Tried moving the striker plate but as all was well before disconnecting the battery I'm leaning towards the thread on the ClubVs forum, ie. door lock motor unit.

What a bleedin' coincidence. Or the system has blown the door lock motor electrics when connecting the new battery.

Sounds silly but the terminals on your battery are the same way around as the battry you removed, just thing the polarity may be wrong if you have over looked this (not meaninng to make it sound like your stupid lol)

Hi Mat - you got me thinking so just been outside (again with just a tee shirt on) and they're the right way round. At least something's right at the moment - the battery starts the car
