    Default Sluggish acceleration

    Vauxhall Vectra C - 1.9CDTI 120PS - 06Plate - 32000miles - last service at 28000miles

    Hi Guys!

    Sorry for the new thread, but I have been on here for for ages trying to find answers and there seem to be lots of questions around the same theme but with naff titles which makes it hard to find!

    Problem:
    There is very little power in any gear until about 3000revs. Even after running for about half an hour. NO LIGHT/SPANNER ON THE DASH

    I do 500 motorway miles a week in my trusty Vauxhall Vectra C, and it has been a dream until now!

    I am not a mechanical whizz so go gentle!

    From the responses to date, I have a checklist of;

    1.) Check boost/turbo hoses
    2.) Check swirl bar
    3.) Check oil
    4.) Use some RedX in the tank and cane the engine for a tanks worth!!!!!
    5.) Change the MAF sensor
    6.) Check the wiring loom to cylinder 3 (?)

    Can anyone tell me please what you think the most likely thing is, and where I might look for;
    1.) The boost/turbo hoses
    2.) Swirl bar
    6.) wiring loom

    Thanks in advance...

    P.S. This site truely shows the use and power of the internet! As little as 10 years ago, I would have had no choice than to visit a Vauxhall-Stealership and get ripped off for £100 by some guy wearing brut aftershave with no idea what he was looking at! So guys, a massive THANK YOU and a huge WELL DONE!

    ....Cleaning the EGR ......could you be good enough to tell me where this is and what I clean it with please???

    (Last time I put my head under a bonnet was when I rebuilt an old mini in my youth (we've all done it!!!) but since wearing a suit every day I have left it to over paid and under skilled shop boys! ...but these are recessionary times my friends!)

    Thanks Wingnut :@>

    I would be tempted to check the earthing points first, as this is an easy one to do, also the cheapest.
    I know of some diesel Zafs that have suffered from this, even after being through the dealers!!
    Look for the earth point from battery to the body work, on Zafs, these do have a mildy tacked plate, and usually get a bit of corrosion

    Clean it up & get some copper slip on it, some folk have been known to make another & more substantial earth point, by trailng a lead from it and bolting to inner wing, giving it more copper slip!!

    Thanks Mitch. ...erm..... where are the earth plates please (!). ....also, you sound technical (!), where might I find these turbo hoses that people talk about? May as well check these whilst under the bonnet! (as you can tell, I dont get under the bonnet often! Its as no go as my wifes credit card account!!!)

    Cheers.

    You need the code read first, so a trip to the stealers is needed. Should not take longer than 5-10 mins. Considering how little business my stealers is doing at the moment i would take it in mid afternoon as that is when they are likely to have no work.
    Either EGR Valve or Injector no.3
    If its an 06 is it still under warranty, 3 years or 60k?
    Do you have a Hatch or Estate?

    Just a tip if it is still under warranty then get the MOT done at the stealers just before it runs out then they will have to repair most faults found under warranty!
