Zlob Trojan

Had one of these appear this morning on the main PC. First time ever that it's been infected. OMG what A pain. Endless pop ups masquerading as the Windows Firewall and I.E. hijacked. Kept going to a site where surprisingly I could buy the means to remove it.

Norton couldn't find it. Spyware Doctor found the Trojan but couldn't detect where the pop ups were coming from. Nightmare.

Anyway quick search on the laptop revealed loads of people with the same issue so I downloaded this shareware which found both the Trojan and the Mal ware straight away and then got rid of them after a reboot.

Some of the threads said that Avast found it too so I'll hold my hands up and say Norton finally let me down and I'll be trying something else next time.

No idea where it came from but it rendered the PC useless for most of the day.

Yep, get shot of Norton. I'd get Kaspersky. I switched from Norton to that and the difference in speed for one was very noticeable. Norton was hogging a helluva lot of resources and bogging everything down. It also will catch a whole lot more than Norton will as many reviews have shown.

To be honest Norton has never been much good, overpriced rubbish imho.
I would try Kaspersky 2009 internet suite as it always gets excellent reviews and I useit on my one and install it on every PC I sort out.

It's kept the PCs and the laptops infection free for 9 years or more so I stuck with it but it runs out in 40 days so I'll be moving on.

Thank god I had the laptop to do A search. Would have been knackered otherwise.

Must agree Norton is useless and since using Kaspersky no problems at all, even after geting dayli 5-10 attacks from china b......s. Probably time to change my IP `cos is quite annoying.

kaspersky 2009 is free if you have barclays internet banking too!!..
had norton originally..and it was sooo slooow... and we got a virus to!..
so we then tried avast home (free) but i didnt like that too much.. so we were informed about the kaspersky offer with Barclays.. excellent so far!
I do however use malwarebytes, and it does pick up a few issues still which it promply gets rid of.. also cc cleaner which helps to keep the cookies and other useless information stored on your computer cleaned up as well..

Try Bullguard - I've had it for the last year (2 Years on my laptop) and for an all-in-one product (AntiVirus/AntiSpyware/Firewall/SpamFilter/Backup) it is very good. Subscription allows use on up to 3 machines.

Just to say that Bullguard performed very poorly in the latest Computer Shopper labs test, only getting 3 stars out of 5. Its not one I would recommend as it has always been at the bottom of the pile. McAfee VirusScan Plus 2009 came top this time with a best buy award and 5 stars. £35 per year or £40 for 3 PC's. Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 came a close second £35 per year for one PC or £43 for 3 PC's. They said it was quite expensive???? If you trawl the internet you can get it for £12 for 3 PC's so I am not sure what they are on about. (It means buying Kaspersky 7 but if you have a current license you can upgrade to 2009 for free! As you can with any old Kaspersky product if you have a current license)
