    Thumbs up Radio problem

    Hi all,

Its time for my first post I cant find any info for this problem I've spent ages looking through different post. I bought myself a Sony mex bt-3600 from halfords for £119 and a free £10 coupon its all fitted and working with the autoleads steering wheel controls but every time I turn the radio on the date disappears from the TID I've changed the red and yellow wires round make the radio work bit i've still got the problem with the display. Can anybody cast any light on this one please.

    Thanks in advance

You don't say what age your motor is.

If you have a canbus model, then the supply you have may be incorrect.

I have just put a Kenwood in mine, and learnt the hard way.

The switched supply on a canbus model is 3v. It is just enough to turn the radio on, the power comes from 12v permanent.

You need to find another switched live, or wire the two feeds into the permanent live. You just need to remember to switch the unit off every time.

You will lose the date as the factory h/u uses the same line to display the radio station etc, just one of those things with fitting an aftermarket h/unit.
