maybe its something else at fault? what is your exact problem?
CIM stands for colomb intergrated module btw
i thought CIM stood for column intergration module??
mark beet me to it, what is the problem though?>
Notice you have a 2002 vec so it could be the ABS plug as it throws the same faults. DIY fix is giving the plug a squirt with switch cleaner. Worked for me.![]()
I thought it stood for computer rather than column. Anyway, I had taken the car last year to an opel dealer when everything in the dashboard stopped working which included the speedo, rev counter, fuel meter etc including the indicator lights but the car was running. The whole dashboard went blank. Apparently the CIM module had to be reprogrammed. This problem has cropped up again. This happened as I tried to use a conductive paint to patch up the heated rear screen. I was not able to fix but CIM problem has instead cropped up. Can anyone help ?
I'm sure they replace the CIM rather than reprogram it. How much did it cost? Usually costs about £350 for a new CIM over here. The rear demister might be controlled by a different Module like the IPEC Interior Electrics Module). Plasma will know.
Your repair of the back windscreen will have nothing to do with the CIM fault, the only connection between the REC (in the boot) and the rest of the car is via canbus. And the CIM isnt even connected straight to it but via a couple of other modules first. So your repair is not the cause of the CIM problem, but more likely to be the ABS dirty plug syndrome.
Thanks for the advice lads & much appreciated. How do you fix a a dirty ABS plug & where exactly is it ?

The ABS unit is the unit in the pic with all the pipes coming out of it. Its situated next to the passenger side strut top. The plug is the big one on top. Pull the end of the plug and it unlocks it. I just used WD40, but was then reminded that sparks and WD40 don't mix, so hence the switch cleaner. Any more q's just give us a shout.
