Default oil filter and oil change - 3.2v6

    Hi guys,

    Couple of questions -

Am i correct in saying the 3.2 needs 4.75 litres of oil?

Also, where does the filter live, i've seen that it is the 'cartridge' type. Also there's a large rubber gasket that comes with the filter - is this for the housing that the filter clips into?

    Sorry for the daft questions...

    Cheers,

    Ian B

Sounds about the right amount of oil. But check the dipstick when you have finished just to make sure.
As to the oil filter is situated on the front of the engine by the exhaust, be care full when undoing the filter as the exhaust might be hot. You will need a 23m/m socket to undo the oil filter housing.

Gasket (aka big o-ring) should come with a new filter. It does if you go to VX stealer.

    got ya...

just taken a look... is the oil filter housing just above the lambda on the manifold...??

the one on my missus's 2.2 astra is on top of the engine... hence the (possibly) daft question...

    cheers,

They must have changed them, as mine is an alloy filter holder.

    Same here, on a 52 plate 3.2

EDIT - just to add that no matter how well you drain the oil from the sump. be prepared for some (actually a fair bit) to be in the filter housing when you unscrew it. Lots of rags recommended around the filter housing.
