    Default no dials again

had an issue in january where all the dials (speedo etc) all stopped working , fixed it by checking all fuses all were fine and this solved the problem untill this week when it happened again and corrected its self when i next started the car. so back to the dealers who could find no fault but they did say they've installed the latest softeware. what would this software be and why????//

Mines also done it a couple of times now.Turning off the ignition and restarting the car after 30 seconds cured it.

I have also had it where i have just stuck 20 pounds of petrol in and as i am leaving the petrol station the gauge is still showing empty.Only after stopping and restarting the car did it go up to quarter full!.

I put it down to problems in the canbus system.

Does your dash warning lights go on for a few seconds then go off, then all your dials drop to zero?.....
my siggy does this either twice a day, or nothing for 2 - 3 weeks..... im putting it down to gremlins as switch off then on again cures the fault, although fuel gauge is slow to respond for about 30 mins...

Still doing the same thing with dash, sometimes twice a day sometimes no problems for weeks.

    BUT!!!!!!!

I used to turn off the engine and restart to clear the fault untill it did it the other day just as I was pulling into the petrol station. The dials died again and i was just about to do the usual routine when the wife opened her door and the dials all came back on!!!!

Thought it might be just one of those things when it happened again today, I stopped at a set of lights, opened my door and BINGO.
Now work out that one if you can..........

mines does the same thing, all my dials die then come back, fuel gauge fails to work then wont come back till after i put fuel in, ABS, TC and battery warning lights come on then go off and i get all kinds of warnings come on in the tacho display. This can happen a couple of times a day and then nothing for a month.

Someone on here suggested in was a problem with my CIM so possible you guys have the same problem.

I have this with mine. It can be one of two things the CIM board or on early Vecs it was the ABS plug. I pulled the plug off mine and gave it a clean with some switch cleaner. Didn't sort it but it only now happens every six months or so. Different to the twice a week I was getting. Hope this helps.

What an annoying problem this is!!!

I had the same fault for quite sometime, the dash would be fine then it lit up like a christmas tree then went out with all the clocks going to zero the funny thing was though if i caught it in time whilst the dash was lit up and put my hazards on or opened my door it kicked back to life sometimes, other times it could be off for days before deciding to work again, I had to get it sorted because it failed its mot as it decided not to work when it was having its test, A friend took my dashboard apart and removed the instrument panel and cleaned the plug and pins on the rear of the clocks and reassembled everything and now it all works fine, it hasn't faulted for over 3 weeks so i now know how fast i am going, another strange point is the odometer didn't record the mileage when the clocks where off
