Type Of speaker..

Right guys,

This is the audio setup in my car, 2 12 inch subs, 2 * 6.5 inch components at the front doors, 2 coaxial 2 way for rear doors, 2 4 way 6 x 9" Speakers on rear shelf. one of the 6 x 9's has unfortunatly given way.. i was wondering what type of speaker can i replace instead of 6 x 9's that would give defined midrange and clear and crisp sound, not bothered about the lows since i have 2 monstor subs!

Why not put just a set of tweeters on the shelf?

i would just upgrade the 2way co-axials in the doors mate, to some decent components and amp them (and the fronts if they aren't already).

personally i have never been a fan of having my sound coming from behind me... after all, i wouldn't go to the opera and sit facing the back wall

If you upgrade the rear door speakers the rear passengers will get a good sound and you will get some good rear fill but without them overpowering the front.

I have always lived by the rule of either 6x9's or sub, not both... however, i am no expert, just found that i can get a better sound with just one or the other.

Personnally I wouldn't bother with the 6x9s especially having the coaxials in the rear doors, you'd be in danger of overpowering the front speakers. Ideally you want most of the sound coming from in front of you and have the rears for 'rear fill'.

Thing is since i have a 2 subs 500 RMS each, i need some decent mid range and highs to compensate, having the 4 way rockford 6 * 9's sounded mint... but since one of them is gone i thought i could go for a different type of speaker

I found that that having sound coming from the back and front creating some sort of 3D sound.. it wouldnt sound like it was coming from the back as such

I could upgrade the rear coxial speakers, which incidentally i run from the head unit, the rest amped up, i have no risk of overpowering the front since they go upto 100 RMS and the 6 * 9's only go upto 75 RMS.

As i said becuase of the bass i need nice crisp mids, which i did have, but just though since one of the 6 * 9's gone, i might upgrade to another type of speaker

i have 4 way at the moment, how about if i go to 3 way?
