Default Conti Sport Contact 2, 225/45/17

Managed to get hold of some 225/45/17 Conti Sport Contact 2 Tyres today.

3 have between 5-6mm tread and one has approx 3mm.

Will get fitted this weekend so off will go the NCT 5's 215/50/17's.

What do we all think of the Conti tyres? Good buy?

Your thoughts and comments would be great guys.

    Thanks.

I had continental tyres on my bike, amazing grip in the dry, when wet, its time to order your coffin, I scrapped them in the end, I hope they have improved them for car use

I used to have them in 16's on my old Vec-B and they seemed OK then.

Then again, since reading on here about the ****ey NCT5's, I have started to push the car a bit and in the wet, they are shocking!

Anything should be better than them hey?!?!?

I've got four Conti Sport Contact 2's (slightly different size, on 19"s, but same tyre).

They are very good in the warm and the dry, kind of okay in the warm and the wet, and very scary when the temperature drops below 5'C and it's wet

I've got that size in Contact 3 but XL ones. didn't like them at first but after 10k they are wearing really well down to 5-6mm left like to think I can get anothe 15-20k from them.

I wont touch them with a barge pole matey because they were fitted to my wifes ex Focus ST 170 and in the 3 years of ownership 2 of the tyres failed because of bulges which made the wheel acked like it was buckled.
I have since found out that these tyres dont like and form of impact and dont wear well. The impact meaning general potholes, grids, speedbumps etc and I know that she didnt kerb any. Continental didnt want to know and just said it was driver error. I have never had before or after any problems like this with other makes of tyre
