Hi all, the washers on my car have given up. Pump is buzzing and there's just a trickle so presume reservoir and pump filter need a clean.

I've located the two torx screws on the wheel liner but cannot find the third that everyone mentions under the car. Where is it roughly?

I'm also guessing this job would be easier with the wheel off and the car jacked up, or is that not strictly necessary?

    Thanks.

To be honest mate it's not really necessary to remove wheel , just start the car up and turn steering to full right lock, with the torx screws removed you can pull the liner out enough (a bit fiddly) to get to the pump, at least that's what I did earlier this year; there should be 3 Torx screws there on the liner, i.e the lower one which is about an inch or so from the edge of the bumper as it were and then the other two are up from that, maybe you have one missing? HTH
    Cheers Pete

Have you simply tried pushing a hosepipe down the filler neck and turning on full and letting it overflow for a while? It certainly gets rid of a lot of crud etc.

    Simple, quick and easy.

Non working washers is a MOT failure and the Police don't like it either !

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes, tried both blasting with the hose and putting hot water in several times, leaving and then siphoning out but still no good. It's bound to be the filter, the car's 6 years old after all.

Like I said I've removed the 2 visible torx screws (twice now) from the liner, pulled it back as far as it will go and can see the pump. The liner does feel like it will break unless I remove a third screw somewhere else in order to get my hand in to pull the pump and filter off. Had a crawl round underneath and couldn't see any further attachments. Will look for a third torx in the liner itself as Pete suggests.

Nice one BigP....my problem was the Elbow piece/one way valve.
Now taken it out and plugged the pipe direct to the pump until i can get a new one.
    Thanx
