Cheap alternative to xbox wireless adapter?

I was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative to buying an official wireless xbox adapter apart from running rj45 cable half way round the house.

In terms of wireless the only other option is what's called a wireless bridge. Same principle as the Xbox thing but you'll need to plug it into a PC to set it up to connect to your wireless network.

Thing is they're not much cheaper, and often more expensive, than the Xbox thing. Whilst you can use the bridges on any computer with an ethernet port, the Xbox one is just miles more convenient - tiny and attaches to the console and is setup/controlled all from the dashboard.

Maybe have a look on ebay for a used one?

I was looking at those wireless ethernet bridges but as you say they're not much cheaper than the official adapter. I did have the xbox connected direct to the router but I have now moved the router to a different room in the house. I think the cheapest and possibly the most reliable option is to route the cable around the house directly to the xbox from the router as I had no connection problems last time. I'm just lazy. I like everything to be wireless.

Wired is certainly more reliable if the routing of it is not too much of a PITA!

I use poweline adapters (I got a pair free with my BT Vision box which I didn't need). They are rated upto 200MB/s and have through sockets in them which allows you to still use the socket - do a search on ebay for powerline adapters as loads of people sell the ones they get free - they are made by a company called Commtrend. hth.

I bought mine brand new, but i refused to pay the same price when i bought my son his 360, we ended up getting it for £20 off ebay, there are offers if you can bid at the right time, just make sure your router is XBOX friendly, my first one USRobotics was a superb bit of kit, but wouldnt work with the 360
