Default AA warranty - is it worth it?

Had a call from AA (got basic break down cover).

They have offered their "top level" warranty cover, up to £3,000 per claim & includes fuel system, clutch etc etc for £260 per year (with 0% apr monthly). £50 excess.

As I've got the 3.0CDTi which is 3 and half years old and with 45,000 miles on it I'm tempted. I believe a new fuel pump may exceed that limit

Anyone had any experience of this?

On the basis it's great but their web site only offers cover up to 3 years old here. Could be a case of take the money and run hoping it don't break down to then tell you, sorry you're not covered because the car is too old!!

    • 3 Star - Providing basic cover for replacement of specific components and associated labour costs for up to 3 years
    • 5 Star - Covers a wider range of vehicle components for up to 3 years
    • Gold - Very comprehensive cover for all mechanical and electrical components for up to 3 years

Had this on my 1st Vec-C. So long as you register before 60K miles, the car is covered.
My fan belt and and alternator went and the AA got it fixed also got a repacement car for 2 days.

Cost to me..... £25 all for £50 a year. I think the costs have gone up now, but still worth the money.

At the time, i think it was called AA warrantee cover.

Sorry mate, I think you'll find you 6 months past the expiry date. This is is sold in competition to Network Q which also expires when the car is 3

That is not what you said.

It is less than 3 years since date of purchase, and less than 3 years from expiry of warranty. - That is what you said.

Anyway they rang me & knew when my car was registered, so you must be wrong on that count. They actually started the conversation by saying "so now your car is out of warranty...."
