    Default Faulty thermostat fixed.

I took my 1.8 vvti in to the dealers today to have a faulty thermostat replaced under warranty. The engine wasn't reaching temperature until approx 15 miles where as when it was new it would get up to 90 within 2 miles.Driving back from the dealers it was up to 90 well before i got home(3 miles) so alls back to normal.
    Result.

Nice It was a common problem on the older Z18XE, seems it could be on the newer one too.

Yours is a diesel and they take longer to heat up as its a big old cast iron block compared to the alloy of the petrol's.

Also, the diesels (particularly common rails) don't waste energy as heat.

Hence, petrols warm up much faster!!!!!

Probably no fault with your CDTi

That'll be the well-known phenomenon of cold combustion then?
