My mate at work has a 1.9cdti which is 5 months out of warranty and he has just been hit with a £890 bill for repair. his car has got egr probs, inlet manifold probs and other issues aftyer his engine management light went on and it went into limp mode.

Its done 32000 miles and has full dealer service history and was serviced 3 weeks ago. Would it be worth him having a go at getting something out of vauxhall customer services even although its out of warranty? To me its a design fault if these cars are having these issues after so few miles.

Anyone else had probs like this when jiust out of warranty?

Haven't had the problem myself, but won't the stealer do anything? As you said " Its a known fault" if not go to Vauxhall care. I hope he gets a result.

Without doubt ... VX will almost certainly offer a contribution to the cost ... how much depends on how hard he pushes IMHO

he called them a we while ago and they said sorry nothing they can do. Th dealer eventually agreed to give him a courtesy car after claiming they didnt do them and him having 4 phone calls. He is going to write to vx customer services and kick off see what they can do.

Its such a sore hit on the wallet couple of weeks before christmas too.

Tell him to stick to his guns Graeme. If he pesters them enough they'll agree, if only to get rid of him

Welcome to the wonderful world of Fiat engines allied to GM's ****ty customer service.

Could be worse, could be Skoda - they don't nessecarily fix things under warranty, let alone out of warranty.

I think we sould start a petition to demand that owners of these engines (CDTi) that have had these problems should get some form of compo. Ive spent £1400 on my Veccy since the waranty ran out. Ive had an EGR replacement, DMF replacement, Swirl Valve and Inlet Manifold Replacement, Injector Replacement and still having problems.
Even Vauxhall technicians are telling me to get rid of the car based on its engine.
If I was you, I would swap it for something more reliable and cheaper to repair. Think thats what im gonna do.
