    Default M.O.T And Tyre wear.

Just had my car M.O.T.d and a 5th service by vx at Crewe. Price £126 for service. Anyway just looked at the tyre wear on the visual health check, and am very very pleased with the amout off wear / miles.

    Rears covered 21k and have 4.5 mm N/S and 5.0 mm O/S.
    Fronts covered 12k and have 5.5 mm N/S and 5.5 mm O/S.

All tyres are the same brand, Michelin Pilot Primacy 225/45/17 XL 94V.

Would be nice if i can get 40k from the rears and 30k from the fronts.

My last Vec did 85K on rears and were still very legal. They were Michelin too, Energy I think.

IMO, Michelin are hard to beat for long life.

I was suprised that my rears had worn out at 40K, they had worn on the inside edges, usually got 60K+. Fronts however have been replaced alarmingly regularly, but thats undoubtly down to my driving style, now on the 5th set of fronts, fitted yesterday at 70k (3rd pair of Bridgstone Potenza + 2 pairs of Pilot Sport Mich's 225/45/18) glad I don't have to buy them.

Your fronts will be down to 3.0 mm in another 12K miles, giving a total of 24K miles which is about the expected life from front tyres
Once they are below 3.0 mm road handling in the wet becomes a real issue on the Vectra C and it is recommended that you renew them
