Hello all, haven't posted in a while due to lots of long hours at work (sucks being a chef near Christmas time) but I have found some time to continue working on my custom boot installation.
Firstly, I've got a JVC head unit (will get photo later) in nicely with a fascia plate so it's all tucked in snug. In the boot, I've got two 400W JBL sub-woofers and a JBL power-amp.
Getting all the wiring done first was the trickiest bit. We (me and two friends; one of which is a technician for Thurlow Nunn Vauxhall in Holt, Norfolk) had to remove the rear passenger seats, glove box and a lot of trim. However, after all the hard work, all the cables were hidden away perfectly.
The next job was the box... luckily, my other friend's dad collects old sound systems, speakers, record players, etc etc. He had this empty box that I could use, and it fit so well in to the boot of the car, that I had to take it! It's as solid as a rock, and was made in the 1940s... But, yeah. As I said, it fit so well in the boot, so well that nothing else will be able to go in there now! (This problem is addressed later...)
The best part was next; the fitting of the subs and amp and carpeting of the box. Not everyone will like it I know, but I'm very pleased with it. I can't wait to show it off to people I see, especially as it's almost as big as some of my friends cars, haha!
At this present time, the box is complete and the subs are all connected, as is the amp. The box is sitting on six rubber feet and the cables can be easily disconnected and re-connected, should I need to take the box out for boot space.
I've tested it all and it works perfectly, all we have to do is finish off the remote control wiring for the amp, and it will be complete. I'll get some good day-light photographs of the set-up when it is 100%.
