Well I am glad that is over. I have just passed my First Aid refresher exam. They still cram a lot of information into you in Two days. Now I hope I don,t need to put into practice what I have learnt.![]()

Well done Ed.
I want my boss to go on a first aid course, I don't want to go.
Congrats mate always comes in handy esp when you have a paper cut
Well done Ed. It's a great skill to have. Hopefully you'll never have to use it.
The company I work for have all their staff trained in first aid.
I took my refresher back in January. Only had one emergency to deal with so far!!
It was a bit scary!!![]()
But he survived to live another day
I think it's a good idea to know, but hope I don't have to use it to often.![]()
Well done Ed, how many packets of biscuits did you take with youI'll bring some along to the next meet. cheers mate

I have selfishly done it more for me and my family as my dad is "well not a spring chicken" nor getting any younger. Rather than for the firm. You might think I am being Mercanary. As the firm I work for does not give you any renumeration (extra pay) for putting yourself on the line. Where you MIGHT have the resposibility to save a work mates life. I would save his life for free, NO problem there ( as I would for any one who needed my help). But a lot of my mates and even those who have previously "passed" as a first aider ( though refuse to go on a frfresher course). Decline to be a first aider as this firm seems to take us for granted. Sad really, as all the others on my course ( my other work mates excluded) Get some "paid" for the responsibility.
Tell you what though. whilst they give me nothing for doing the course. I/ we did get as much coffee/tea to drink and as much food to eat as we could "stuff" into our faces. BUT well in my case ( and I dare say all the others) we were too nervous to eat too much. I would have not eaten any biskuits if they were put in front on me. I would say That I probably have lost a little weight over the last Two days. Any one who has been in a similar position would agree with me.
I should have taken a "Doggy bag" with me. To get my fill later.![]()
We do not get paid any extra either, It's just one of the many courses we have to do. But it is good to know that I am not the only one trained on site, (unless I am lone working!!) that is able to help too.
But the same as you, where family and friends are concerned it's a good thing to know.
Reminds me of the time at my previous workplace where a rather large girl twisted her ankle. We helped her to the first aid room and called the first aider, who took a good look at her ankle and said "Ooh...it is quite swollen isn't it?". "It's the other ankle that's hurt!" she growled at him.
True story.
