Default Removing or modding EGR valve on 1.9 cdti?

Can I remove it completely or will the ECU have a fit?

Can I partially block it off?

    Cheers,

    G

ECU will have a fit mate, nothing to this date has been done/made to get around or blank it off without problems

Can't be done, the emission control will take a wobbler. When I had mine remapped the remapper spent an hour trying to trick and map out the EGR, but the ECU wouldn't have any of it.

Thought I read on here somewhere that someone has fitted a plate with two small holes in it or something, but I can't find it now Anyone know anything?

You could do that maybe on the petrol ones (as I did with an old Vectra B I had) but not with the CDTi's.

The remap from Regal gets rid of it so it is possible to Tech2 it out if you know how. I asked Regal and they basically told me to F off

I somehow doubt the remap "gets rid of it", as Regal's remap is a EDS map, and the one I had was also an EDS.

Tech2 might be able to pull down the EGR rates, but cutting it out totally is an ECU rewrite, not a remap.

Well Regal state it removes the EGR Valve and several forum members have had it done.

I would ask Regal if they will update your remap for you

Nah, I think I'll pass. I doubt the car's current owner would appreciate me taking it to England to have it's map fiddled with.
