Default Bosiet Training, whats it like ??

I am going to do my offshore survival training next week and wondered if being dumped upside down in a freezing cold pool in a helicopter is as bad as it sounds, also what is the rest of the course like..

I saw a few offshore lads were on here so whats it like ??

When I was holding prior to my Air Traffic Control training, I was based at RNAS Culdrose. Spent a week with 706 sqn. I was used as a 'training aid'. This meant I was regularly thrown in the sea and pulled out by a Sea King. Loved every minute of it.

All sounds a bit cold and wet for my liking!

Best of luck though Tommy, fair play to you for doing it!

I did my offshore survival refresher course about a month ago, getting flipped upside down in a chopper isn't the worst part of it. The worst bit is using the re-breather then finding out while your upside down stuck in the chopper that yours is faulty and full of water.

I did this well over twenty years ago.....and still shiver at the memory of the intense cold of the water. Our third time was in the dark!!!!! That was truly frightening!!!
Thankfully I'm too old/feeble/worn-out to do anything like that now.
    Enjoy,
    Doug
