    Default 1.8 egr

    Anybody have any problems with the egr on the 1.8 engines as think mine is playing up.

    hi
    no problem with mine m8
    if you do a search or look in the how 2 section m8
    i think you can clean it if it plays up

    Can you remove the EGR then? What happens if you do?

    Just follow the advice on the ebay page and mount it like he has shown and all should be fine

    Had the car checked at my mates garage, he put his bosch diagnostics box on it and checked everything. He set up a graph to read the egr and I went for a 10 mile run when I came back all the graph showed was a flat line. He said it should show a spike every now and again. So that is what he thinks is the problem. Have ordered a new egr and will fit it when it arrives and post the results.

    Why did you not just blank it off as per the ebay link?

    Because the ECU would still see the fault so need the new one to cure that

    mine was acting strange so i unplugged the egr last week runs smoother now...i dont get any spanner lights dunno why tho....come to think of it i disconnected the maf sensor and forgot to put it back and didnt get any warnings...is this right?if not my car is fooked!

    Did you get a fault code then? Car and spanner light on?

    If you had none of these then you could get away with using the blanking plug.
