Default Re. VX 3 Year Breakdown cover

Further to a earlier post on this subject, where some posters said they had benefited from the VX 3yrs breakdown cover with the AA, while others lost out.

I had a little moan when I bought my car new 2 yrs ago when the dealer told me VX had stopped offering the 2 & 3 year breakdown cover, however since a few forum users claimed they had received it, plus the fact that it still states on the VX site that every new VX car comes with 3yrs breakdown cover as long as its serviced by a VX dealer I decide to look into it further.

I was at the dealer's today and mentioned it to them again, he got on the phone and double checked for me and it seems VX stopped doing the 2 & 3 yr breakdown cover (even if serviced by a VX dealer) as from the 1st of September 2006. My car was purchased in October 2006.

I plonked a printout from the VX site showing that VX are still offering it according to their website, but he dismissed it by saying that VX had not updated their site, I'm awaiting VX's comments just to see what they have to say. As stated earlier in a previous post I've already paid for the 3rd year cover anyway with the RAC, but I feel like I've been ripped off again for almost £200 over the 2 & 3 years I did'nt get...
Seems like the left hand does'nt know what the right hand is doing. Mucho peeved!

I was told the same when I bought my current car. My old one purchased new in April 2006 is covered up intil April 2009.

The current car which is a year and one week old is no longer covered by the breakdown assistance provided via VX.

In which case they should amend their website, and also some other motoring site where they still boast they give 3 years breakdown cover.

Got full Tesco Breakdown cover for about £50. It was on offer. Tesco use Green Flag, who have brilliant coverage service and response times in my part of the world. Same level of cover direct with the AA was around £120 and they would only reduce it to £96 when I asked. Sod's law, if I don't take it out, I'll need it. I take it out, and I don't. Better safe than sorry.

I had the remainder of the full 3-year recovery deal with the AA on my current car, and the AA offered a one-year extension at half-price. Bet that's no longer on offer now.
