    Default Snow Foam?

Hi, just bought a new Karcher K399 - and read some good stuff on Snow Foam?
So - basically, do I need a Karcher gun for this? Who does it and where can I buy??

Oh - and is it worth it ?

    Cheers A

I personally wouldn't bother. I have used it a couple of times now, waste of money and effort. You can remove as much dirt with pressure washer alone.

I think you may be on your own on this one Paul!

From using it myself and from seeing other guy's posts on it it definitely does make a difference. Were you using a proper Snow Foam lance?, or the likes of the small yellow Karscher thing? If the latter then that's nowhere near as good as a proper snow foam lance.

Ant - in reply to your question, as you've got a Karcher gun you'll find that many makes of Snow Foam lance will fit those. AutoBrite, one of our ATs, sells a really good heavy duty Snow Foam gun which works very well. A number of people also use a Gilmour gun.

I've recently bought a Snow Foam Lance and a a gallon of Super Snow Foam from Mark at Autobrite and it's amazing!

Even if it doesn't do what it says on the tin, it's a bl00dy good talking point and impresses the neighbours no end!

THIS was my first attempt and more than happy with the results.

I use about an inch of Super Snow Foam and a tiny squirt of Megs Soft Wash Gel Shampoo for extra thickness, topped up with warm water and the results were amazing.

Snowman, you got your ears on?

TBH, the foam only really works with a well prepped and waxed car. The only reason to use snow foam is to try and achieve a touch less wash.

I paid £48 the lance and 5 litres of foam from a link on the VXR online forum. I have followed all instructions and my opinion is it's more expense and time for very minimal results. I don't think it removes any more dirt than good blast with washer on it's own.

Rushy post may explain my findings a bit better. Mine only has extra gloss protectant on.

I payed the same for a heavy-duty lance and foam via autobrite. Get a great foam, and it looks impressive (and is quite good fun!) but it does sometimes seem a bit of a waste of time. Even letting it dwell for 5-10 minutes, I still end up taking a sponge to it before pressure-washing off to get a good result.

You can't beat a good hand-job in my opinion

TBH I only foamed mine this weekend any it all came up clean except the rear. The two leaders in cleaning ability seam to be Bilt Hammer Autofoam and the other being Autosmart Dura foam. The latter being the Daddy but with slight wax stripping properties. Also guys bear in mind that to get the best out of it most guys on DW will foam 2-3 times a week with one main wash. Check this thread out Re the Autosmart stuff.
