Default Vented rear discs - wear limit

Anyone know what the wear limit is for the rear discs (3.0CDti Estate) before they need replacing?

    Micrometer at the ready

Personally i would change them with every 2nd set of brake pads as they do seem to wear rather quickly or if you dont know how many sets of pads it has had when the lip gets to about 3mm MAX !!!!!

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

Thanks everyone from comments. I take it that there is no scientific solution like measuring thickness at several points around the disc then?

You could if you fancy beign a

Seriously though, as the guys above said it's more a case of a visual/tactile inspection. You'll soon be able to see quickly enough if they need replacing.

keep in mind that a venier only measures the highspots on the discs.....

That, and that a disc and pad kit from VX is little more than a set of VX pads...it just makes too much sense..so change them if in any doubt

Nothing wrong with that. I measure the ones on my S2000 with a micrometer every 6 months Fortunately I have a copy of the service manual for the Honda which tells you how to check them so was hoping for the same for Vx

Can't use a vernier as that would measure the lip and not the disc. Need to use a micrometer. Now that's being a real
