This can be quite common when the radiator is starting to go.

It may not be leaking enough for there to be pools of water on the ground or notice a drop at the header tank but is the radiator wet anywhere?? - check front and back, top to bottom.

Other than this check all hose pipes that carry your coolant. Heaven forbid there is always a possibility it could be the heater matrix that is leaking or starting to go. Any wetness inside the car?

Just outside the box here - and only because it's hapened to me this week too - just stick your head under the car and make sure there isn't a carrier bag welded to your exhaust.... Smells godawful!

Yep Paul. My dealer scraped one off the exhaust of my earlier 1.8 as it never got fully burnt off after a month, and I was told it can take up to two months to burn off. Smells like exhaust fumes/burnt fuel (which I suppose it is). If you've ever put a plastic bag on a raging bonfire you'd know what I mean.

Makes you a bit paranoid TBH. If I see a plastic bag go under my car I check in the rear view mirror to see it emerge out of the back or the other side of the car. Have been known to stop and check if I don't.

I had smelly screenwash a while back smelt like vinegar and was noticeable from within the car even with the windows closed. I put it down to filling the reservoir with some screenwash I'd mixed up about a year previous which had gone off. Should have known better, I know.
