    Question Reversing sensors

    Hi all

I am going to be brave and fit some parking sensors to my 2007 sri on Saturday and have researched all the how 2s and am reasonably confident on most of it. However, there seems to be a difference of opinion regarding the wiring i.e. through a relay or not. Obviously wiring direct to the reversing light is easier but I am concerned that this may cause problems with warning lights etc.
Any comments on either wiring option would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

The reason for the bypass is so that if you ever use the 'Light your way home' feature where the headlights and reversing lights come on the reversing sensors aren't activated and start beeping away.

If that doesn't bother you then you can just tap off the reversing light wiring - although for the small extra effort to add the bypass you may as well.

I added mine to the reversing light (on my previous sri).. as Duncan says they go on with the light home thing, but only beep once (unless you then walk past them on the way to your door).

Thanks for the swift advice, I think I know what i'm doing now. I never use the "light your way home feature" anyway so no problem there.

A bypass switch - it's a switch that will only give power to the sensors (when wired from the reverse light wiring) if the ignition is on.

all u doing is fitting a switch , is this right so all u doing is turning them on when u want them on insted of them just coming on automatically.

No, it's an automatic type of switch. As long as it has power into it from an ignition live feed then it will allow power to go through to the sensors from the reverse light wiring feed. When the ignition is on the switch will allow power through to the sensors and they will work automatically when reverse is selected.

As glenboy said it's like a relay - in fact I think it's actually called a bypass relay as opposed to bypass switch which I'd referred to it as. A relay is a switch at the end of the day but a relay is probably more descriptive.
