Before I stuck the tuning box on it was bad but had a look at the air filter, mine was awful, it looked like it had never been changed. After that it was OK, it would give out a light haze rather than thick smoke.

Mine does the same now but thats only when the tuning box is on!!

Will look at the filter and see what it looks like.

As for oil it was bought from Vauxhaul so was the right oil for the engine.

    Cheers

Does your car drive ok? Engine management light staying off?
Is the fuel consumption decreased at all since you have noticed the smoke?
Approx how many miles has the engine covered?

The car has done 86k, no deterioration in performance, i get between 36 and 42 MPG.

There is no engine management light coming on either.

    Cheers

    Cool

I had problems with a couple of signams that were smoking. First one was a sticking egr valve but that was also accompanied with a lack of power, Other one was a split intercooler hose, as well as knackered oil pressure seals in the turbo was pumping out plenty smoke. Is the smoke you see black or blue? One other thing is have the engine management checked, ask the garage to check it through either generic obd or generic obd can, get them to check for pending codes, pending codes are codes where the ecu sees a fault but the fault is not bad enough to warrant putting the light on. Hope this helps you. Cheers Dave

Ifs its black its obviously overfuelling.
I would be having the ecu interrogated, could be a number of things, ect fault, egr fault, blocked vac hose, the list goes on.

    Vehicle : Vauxhall Vectra

    Engine : 1.9 CDTI 150

It defo needs looked at (doesn't need me to tell you that) but another culprit could be the MAF sensor. Will cause your big black smoke problem.

Post back with any diagnosis made or remedy.
