Anyone know the best thing to use to remove/hide light scratches on a star silver sri??

I got swiped by fallen tree branches down a country lane the other day, just used a bit of T-Cut Paint Restorer and then polished off. Scratches gone!

No don't use tcut its shocking stuff. It is too agrassive and use it to long you can remove all your paint.

Get somthing like megs scratch x or someone with a machine polisher to sort it out for you.

i was reading a thread on DW and they used 3 coats of Auto Glym super resin polish. and it really reduced the appearance of fine scratches

Don't be afraid to 'blend' 2 polishes together.
A light cut and a ultra light cut polish work well, i've done this a couple of times when i've got low on my favourite brand and the results are excellent.

yes i do that alot at work, ive got a mix i use 90% of the time
0.5 machine glaze
0.25 med cut paste
0.25 high gloss polish

really good for hand polishing. if you find some thing need a bit more work just spend a bit more time on it

AG SRP won't remove the scratches, it will simply fill them in. It's a filler heavy product thats used by people who don't have rotary or orbitals. People with machines should only ever use it if the clearcoat is to thin to work with. After repeated washing/driving in wet conditions they will become visible again using the SRP.

Your best bet would be to find someone who can machine polish. They will start out light upping the cut each time so the minimum amount of clearcoat is removed. If the scratches are bad wet sanding will need to be used followed by a machine polish.

The cheapest and safest way would be to take it to your nearest chipsaway dealer - simply ring up and give them your postcode to find out. Excellent service at my local one.

I wouldn't be so sure about chips away being the cheapest, I got one round to have a look at some key marks (before I was polishing myself) and the quote was £5 more than the local highly recomended bodyshop who was going to take the area back fully, primer paint and clear the bits that needed doing and blend. The guy even did a few extra bits that I didnt ask to be done.

So check bodyshop prices out as well.
