i everyone i wonder if someone can help me, i have a 54 plate vectra 1.9turbo deisel, driveing the car on a dual carraige way yesterday, for a few seconds the radio went dead, all the lights come on on the dash, the spanner light stayed on after an the power just didnt seem to be there, pulled up went an done what i had to do, about 20 minuetes or more later, got back into the car to find everything working as if nothing had happend. i was driveing tonight an the whole lot just died on me no power what so ever, put the car off the road left it for about five the power stering was also gone in this time nothing what so ever, after leaveing it again it all come back with me not touching a thing. if i had of been on the motorway an i had my three children in the car, i beleive i wouldnt be here now, if anyone has any idea what it could be, no hazzard light or any thing its so dangerous thinking about getting rid of it.nice one lee

WOW calm down most members have other things to do than check the forums every minute of the day !! (all right some of us do no names ),just wait a day or so and i'm sure you will get help,but if you continue to be impatient i'm sure a admin will be able to answer your question

well if he comes back theres a cpl of things he can check... For something like the hazards to stop working as well as the power steering could point to something fairly hefty being up the wall... I would normally say CIM but i'm not 100% sure if the power steering packs it in at the same time?

Lee, you'll find that more then enough people will help you with your problem, but jeez, you gotta give folks a bit of time to see the thread and for somebody who can give a reply to do so. They won't be in a hurry to hep you with that sort of impatience.

Anyway, as Plasma said the CIM is a possible candidate and I'm pretty sure the old ABS wiring issue may be a culprit too - you think so too Dean? (That's Plasma).

yep, I also think the ABS plug is also another probability but something doesnt add up with total loss of power...

Ah yeah, well spotted! I was just looking at the times. OK, so it was two days but a simple would've done. Anyhoo....

No, true - normally that just kills all the dials but not the power.

Sorry guys i may of give false information saying check alternator,its just he said all lights came on dash and power steering went,witch reading through a few posts can happen if the alternators not pushing out enough juice....sorry for any misleading aswers
