    Angry HHHEEELLLPPP!!! 1.9CDTi broken

Hi all. Ive had my DMF changed (3 years ago), EGR Valve changed (2 years ago) and my Swirl Valve and Inlet Manifold changed (2 months ago). Now my cars bellowing smoke out and the throttle will only increase the revs very slowly.
The engine starts fine (although very smokey) but just wont do anything. There is no warning light on the dash.
Been to speak to my local garage (non-dealer as car is undrivable) and he thinks it might be the EGR Valve stuck open (can I check this myself). The car had not been run for over a week prior to it displaying this fault but it did drive ok for a mile or so but wouldnt play when I restarted it.

Any suggestions guys. Is there anything I can check myself. This things doing my head in.

    Cheers

Fiddled with injectors and tapped EGR valve with a hammer and it does run better but still shed loads of smoke.
    Any tips?

If it was the EGR valve i would imagine your car to be showing a fault code..ie dash light with spanner through it.i could be wrong i suppose.

Is the constant light blu smoke an issue? Would the EGR cause this? I have had a look on ebay and found a new egr valve unit for £45

    Vehicle : Vauxhall Vectra

Are you sure it is blue smoke??

Black smoke is okay - usually lack of air / too much fuel (MAF Sensor)
Blue smoke is bad - usually means burning oil (Expensive)
White smoke - can be good or bad usually normal.

I would certainly be visiting a trusted mechanic for advice if i was you. Sometimes DIY is okay and cheapest option but in the case of Blue smoke i'd let a mechanic tell you even if just to tell you whats wrong then revert to the DIY if confident enough to do job required.

Managed to take her for a run this morning (after fiddling with injectors and finding a loose pipe). Couldnt decide what colour smoke was so gave it a blast which resulted in a cloud of black smoke, after which it stopped smoking altogether.

Still a little hesitant until turbo kicks in but then it flies, smoke free.

Ive posted a new thread to fully explain.
