    Default 1.9tdci won't rev

Hi guys, new here looking for help with my car

Jumped in it to get to work today and it won't rev. Even if I floor the throttle pedal the revs slowly creep up to about 2000 rpm and won't get any higher. It runs smooth, but won't rev.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks Graham

I have had a problem on my CDTI the spanner would come on and then would not rev.
It could be a number of things but im not sure as I got rid of mine a day later.
Does this happen every time you start it?
Some one will be on here shortly with some more info

Sounds like exactly the same problem that my Veccy is suffering from.

A couple of days ago, I noticed that the car wouldn't rev and had no power below about 2000rpm. All of a sudden, the turbo would wind up and then whoosh! - off I'd go. I've had in the shop today and they changed the mass air flow meter which seems to have made things better. It hasn't solved the problem. It is still reluctant to pick up below about 2000rpm but at least it'll get the car moving.

I still feel that it's likely to be a coked up EGR valve. Maybe yours is the same.

Oh, and mine didn't show up a fault code either.

Just a guess but it could be the throttle position potentiometer, that is the bit of kit thats connected to the accelerator pedal. As you may or may not know the throttle on the vectra C isnt a cable linkage, its electronically controlled. But as mentioned above it could be a number of things, but good suspect!

Are you all low mileage drivers? As the EGR tends to get clogged up when there is not much motorway mileage done. Split turbo boost pipe perhaps, not sure if this would throw up a fault code or not. Just guesses but I reckon someone will be along soon with some better ones.

Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?
